Edmonton, AB – The Edmonton Elks have added defensive lineman Brandon 'B.J.' Thompson II to their training camp roster. Thompson, standing six-foot-six and weighing 244 pounds, brings a Super Bowl championship to the Elks' defensive front. Thompson was recently released by the Calgary Stampeders after attending their training camp. The Elks also released American receiver Ife Adeyi.
The team's training camp is currently underway. Edmonton faces the B.C. Lions in their first exhibition game on May 23. The regular season commences on June 6 against the Ottawa Redblacks.
Thompson previously spent time on the Calgary Stampeders' practice roster at the end of last season. He was brought back for Stampeders' training camp but was subsequently released during mandatory roster cutdowns on May 13. The final roster deadline for all teams is May 30.

The Elks finished fifth in the West Division last season with a 7-11 record, failing to make the playoffs for the fifth consecutive year. The team's first exhibition game is scheduled for May 23 against the B.C. Lions, followed by a second preseason matchup against the Calgary Stampeders on May 29.
