The production is currently underway in the United Kingdom, with reports indicating set construction has been ongoing. Garland, a self-proclaimed enthusiast of the Elden Ring game, reportedly initiated the film project with a personal pitch to the game's publishers, Bandai Namco and FromSoftware. The game's creators, Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R. R. Martin, are credited with developing the original story for Elden Ring, which is set in the fragmented world of the Lands Between following a conflict among demigod children of Queen Marika.
Details regarding the film's plot remain undisclosed. The adaptation is being produced by A24, a studio that has seen recent mainstream success. This marks a significant expansion for A24 into larger-scale productions, following films like Civil War and Marty Supreme.
