A substantial financial infusion of ₹100 crore has been directed towards the production of 'Drishyam 3', with PEN Studios announcing its backing of the Mohanlal-starrer. This investment arrives as Panorama Studios and PEN Studios have collectively acquired the worldwide theatrical and digital rights for the eagerly awaited Malayalam film.
The acquisition and investment news, surfacing recently and in earlier reports from December 2025, signals a significant push for the project. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh has noted the film’s completed shoot and ongoing post-production for the Malayalam version. A release date has been set for May 21, according to multiple reports from Friday, April 24, 2026.
Producers Antony Perumbavoor, Kumar Mangat Pathak, and Jayantilal Gada are associated with the project. This move by PEN Studios to invest in Aashirvad Cinemas, the production house behind 'Drishyam 3', underscores a strong belief in the franchise's commercial viability.

This latest financial development follows reports from December 2025 detailing a pre-release business deal reportedly exceeding ₹350 crore, a figure that positioned 'Drishyam 3' as having achieved a remarkable financial milestone even before its theatrical debut. This sum is noted to have surpassed the total box office collections of the highest-grossing Malayalam film, 'Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra'.
Director Jeethu Joseph, who helms the franchise, has previously indicated that 'Drishyam 3' will diverge from its predecessors, stating that the story "evolves" rather than concluding. Mohanlal, who plays the central character Georgekutty, had reportedly completed his portions of the filming in December of the previous year. The franchise itself has a notable history, having been remade in multiple languages, including Hindi, with Panorama Studios involved in those remakes. The acquisition of global rights by both studios signifies an ambition to extend the film's reach beyond domestic borders, aiming for "one of India's biggest international releases."
