Concord (Calif.) De La Salle running back Duece Jones-Drew, son of former NFL All-Pro and UCLA standout Maurice Jones-Drew, committed to the UCLA Bruins on Sunday, continuing a family legacy in Westwood.
Jones-Drew announced his decision following a weekend visit for the program's spring game. He selected UCLA over finalists including Arizona and Cal, having previously considered Arizona, Cal, SMU, and Utah.
The commitment marks another addition to a busy recruiting period for UCLA under first-year coach Bob Chesney. The Bruins secured multiple pledges over the weekend, including:
Three-star wide receiver Rob Larson.
Four-star offensive guard Jackson Roper, who chose UCLA over offers from Auburn, Michigan, Ohio State, and Texas A&M.
A pair of top-100 cornerbacks: four-star JuJu Johnson and Jerry Outhouse Jr., a former Georgia commit.
Jones-Drew's decision to commit to UCLA aligns with a trend of the program prioritizing local talent. His father, Maurice Jones-Drew, had an acclaimed college career at UCLA, amassing significant yardage and touchdowns before embarking on an NFL career. The younger Jones-Drew now aims to forge his own path at the same institution.

This recent influx of commitments, including Jones-Drew, has seen UCLA's recruiting class rankings ascend. Jones-Drew joins running back Jayshon Gibson, another recent commit, bolstering the team's offensive playmakers.
Prior reports indicated Jones-Drew had previously detailed his UCLA offer, with a focus on continuing his father's legacy as a key consideration in his collegiate choice.
