Greenwood himself faced serious charges including attempted rape and controlling behaviour, which were later dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service in February 2023 due to a lack of key witnesses and no realistic prospect of conviction.
De Zerbi's appointment at Tottenham followed the sacking of interim head coach Igor Tudor, with the club struggling in 18th place in the Premier League. Several official fan groups, including Proud Lilywhites, Women of the Lane, and Spurs Reach, had urged the club not to proceed with De Zerbi’s appointment before it was officially announced on March 31, 2026. The Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust has since stated it cannot support the appointment, warning of potential division within the fanbase.
