Darts player Cameron Menzies has revealed a severe hand injury sustained from punching a table at the World Darts Championship nearly caused him to abandon his career. The incident left him with "no feeling" in his fingers for weeks, requiring treatment from a hand specialist. Despite this, Menzies has recently surfaced in a new romantic relationship following his split from fellow darts player Farron Sherrock, often referred to as the 'Queen of the Ally Pally'.

Menzies, 36, discussed the fallout from his outburst at the PDC World Championship. The injury, described as potentially career-ending, resulted from an "agonising" early exit from the tournament. He admitted to being "so close to pulling out" of competing shortly after the incident, deeming it "not a proud moment." Reports indicate blood on his hand after leaving the stage following his loss to Charlie Manby.

The severity of the injury meant Menzies "couldn’t feel my fingers for six weeks." He noted he is "lucky I can still play" and acknowledged the potential for more serious harm, suggesting it "could have been severed." The player has been undergoing hand treatment and dealing with the trauma associated with the injury.

Following his split from Sherrock last summer, after a four-year relationship, Menzies has publicly displayed his new relationship with Suzanne Lewis. He shared photos on his Instagram account showing them together, including a kiss. This new personal development comes after a challenging period that saw him contemplating the end of his professional darts journey due to the physical consequences of his actions. He has since won his first ProTour event this year, indicating a return to form despite the lingering effects of the injury.

The player's emotional state at the time of the championship incident was reportedly influenced by personal grief, including the death of his uncle. He has previously utilized a mental sports psychologist to manage stress and anxiety. The event drew attention for its rawness, with Menzies also attempting to interact with a pyrotechnic before repeatedly striking the table.
