Arrest follows social media post of high-speed driving.
An arrest warrant has been issued for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. The warrant, confirmed by the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, stems from a misdemeanor charge of "exhibition of speed." This charge is connected to a video that Aiyuk reportedly posted online, allegedly showing him driving significantly over the speed limit near Levi's Stadium. The incident, initially reported on Wednesday, has placed the player in legal scrutiny.

The legal action follows an incident where Aiyuk allegedly filmed himself driving at high speeds, a video that later surfaced online and drew criticism.

Following the online circulation of the video, Aiyuk issued an apology on social media, stating that future content would not involve speeding. Despite the apology, the Santa Clara Police Department initiated an investigation. The case was subsequently presented to prosecutors, leading to the issuance of the warrant.

Player's Status and Past Relationship with Team
The legal issue adds another layer to Aiyuk's already complicated standing with the 49ers organization. Reports indicate that team officials, including general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan, had previously suggested that Aiyuk might have played his final games for San Francisco. In December, he was placed on the reserve/left squad list. Some reporting suggests the team might either release him or continue to keep him on the reserve list.
The 28-year-old wide receiver experienced a breakout season in his third year with the team, achieving 1,015 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. His performance was a factor in the team's deep playoff runs during seasons where he surpassed 1,000 receiving yards.
