The Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) has concluded its draft, tapping 17 college softball players for professional careers. A novel "golden ticket" system, designed to navigate NCAA eligibility complexities, preceded the formal draft, with recipients discovering their team affiliations during a televised event on ESPN2.
The 'golden ticket' initiative, a brainchild of AUSL's Chief Broadcasting Officer Cheri Kempf, aims to formally acknowledge promising college talent without jeopardizing their amateur status. This unique approach allowed 17 players to be pre-selected, with the recent draft finalizing their team placements within the league's four franchises: the Bandits, Blaze, Talons, and Volts.

Among the top selections was Karlyn Pickens, who was chosen first overall by the Carolina Blaze. Other notable draft picks included INF Taryn Kern (Stanford) and P Peja Goold (Mississippi State), both of whom were also recipients of the prestigious golden tickets.
