Bernd Wiesberger has secured his first DP World Tour victory in nearly five years, triumphing at the Volvo China Open in Shanghai. The Austrian golfer finished with a score of 19 under par, a comfortable three strokes ahead of his nearest competitor, Adrian Otaegui. This marks Wiesberger's ninth DP World Tour title.
The win comes after a significant wait, with Wiesberger's last victory on the tour dating back 1792 days, or almost five years. He collected a winner's check of $467,500 from the $2.75 million prize money event.
Wiesberger shared the lead with Shaun Norris after the second round, both sitting at 12 under par. Norris eventually finished tied for third alongside Chai Bowen and Zhou Yanhan, who were one shot back after 36 holes. Wiesberger maintained his position at the top throughout the final rounds, reportedly keeping his composure on the final hole, an 18th-hole par-5, with a par to secure the win.

During his third round, Wiesberger received a notable stroke of luck when his ball was saved from a water hazard, ultimately leading to a birdie. He also chipped in for a birdie on the tenth hole in the final round.
The victory propels Wiesberger up the 'Race to Dubai' standings, with Max Schott also making a significant move to 12th place after his performance. The Volvo China Open, a co-sanctioned event between the DP World Tour and the China Tour, was held at the Enhance Anting Golf Club.
