MINNEAPOLIS – The Minnesota Timberwolves secured a commanding 3-1 series lead against the Denver Nuggets in Game 4 on Saturday night, clinching a 112-96 victory. However, this triumph was marred by significant player injuries. Star guard Anthony Edwards and veteran Donte DiVincenzo both exited the game with leg injuries.
Donte DiVincenzo's season is officially over following a torn Achilles tendon in his right leg. The severity of Anthony Edwards' left knee injury remains unclear, casting a shadow over the Timberwolves' playoff aspirations.
DiVincenzo sustained his injury in the opening minutes of the game, approximately 71 seconds in, on a non-contact play where he slipped while chasing a ball. He was unable to continue and left the arena in a wheelchair at halftime. Edwards appeared to hyperextend his left knee late in the second quarter, buckling as he landed after contesting a shot. He was helped to the locker room, placing little weight on his leg.

Game Performance Overshadowed by Injuries
Despite the losses, the Timberwolves, led by a remarkable 43-point performance from Ayo Dosunmu off the bench, managed to control the game, particularly defensively in the second half. Dosunmu's scoring outburst marked a career playoff high for the second consecutive game. The team's defense successfully contained Denver's offense, a stark contrast to their usual offensive reliance.
Other notable contributions included Naz Reid adding 17 points, and Rudy Gobert pulling down 15 rebounds. For the Nuggets, Nikola Jokic posted 24 points, 15 rebounds, and nine assists, while Jamal Murray led Denver with 30 points.
Uncertain Future for Minnesota
The extent of Edwards' injury is a critical unknown. He is a key offensive player for the Timberwolves, averaging 28.8 points during the regular season. The team now faces the challenge of potentially advancing through the playoffs without their star guard and losing DiVincenzo for the remainder of their postseason run. Coach Chris Finch appeared emotional when discussing the injuries post-game.
