Quintayvious Hutchins, a rookie linebacker for the New England Patriots, faces a charge of misdemeanor assault and battery on a family/household member. Court records indicate the alleged incident occurred on Tuesday, May 12, with Hutchins being formally charged on Wednesday, May 13.
Hutchins, 23, was arraigned in Newton District Court on Wednesday and entered a plea of not guilty. He was subsequently released on his own recognizance, meaning no bail was posted. His pretrial hearing is scheduled for June 29.
The seventh-round draft pick, selected 247th overall in the 2026 NFL Draft, signed his rookie contract with the Patriots last weekend. He was a team captain at Boston College. Hutchins reportedly left the Patriots' rookie minicamp on Saturday with an undisclosed injury.
According to court documents, the alleged altercation took place in Newton. One account mentions an argument about food, with a witness describing a "firm grab to the neck not strangulation." The woman involved reportedly stated she was "OK" and did not want a photo taken of her neck. Hutchins was represented at his arraignment by attorney Michael DiStefano.

The Patriots drafted Hutchins on April 25. He played 10 games for Boston College last season, accumulating 35 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and an interception.
