Cyan Worlds is bringing its remakes of the seminal puzzle-adventure games, Myst and Riven, to PlayStation 5 and PS VR2. This announcement addresses the previous absence of Sony's platform from the ongoing rollout of these updated titles.
The remake of Myst is already available on Xbox Series X|S and the Microsoft Store. The remake of Riven will launch on Xbox Series X|S and the Microsoft Store concurrently with its PlayStation 5 and PS VR2 debut. This signifies the lifting of a de facto exclusivity for Riven on Xbox platforms.

console Releases Extend Reach
The Myst remake has previously been released for Meta Quest, followed by Xbox and PC. The forthcoming PlayStation 5 and PS VR2 versions promise features such as PS VR2 optional support, PlayStation 5 Pro Enhanced, Power Saver Mode, RT on/off toggles, and HDR & 4K playback.

Similarly, Riven's remake is slated for Xbox Series X|S and the Microsoft Store, including features like XPA support, Xbox Series X|S optimization, RT on/off toggles, and HDR & 4K playback.

Context and Legacy
These releases are framed as providing an accessible and immersive entry point for new players to experience these acclaimed titles. The inclusion of Myst and Riven on the PS VR2 platform is positioned as a means to bolster its library, which is seen as striving to gain broader appeal.
The Myst series, initiated by brothers Robyn and Rand Miller, began with the original Myst game, developed by Cyan Worlds. Beyond the video games, the lore has been expanded through novels such as Le Livre d'Atrus, Le Livre de Ti'ana, and Le Livre de D'ni, co-authored by the Miller brothers and David Wingrove.

Previously, efforts have been made to ensure the series' availability on modern hardware. In 2018, Cyan Worlds and GOG collaborated to make Myst III: Exile and Myst IV: Revelation compatible with contemporary operating systems like Windows 10 and macOS 10.13, as part of a broader initiative to restore the series' legacy.
Separately, a venture named Myst Fragrance also exists, offering a line of perfumes, including a product called "Myst Melt."
