Discovery+ has pulled the plug on Jonathan Ross's paranormal investigation series, "Haunted Homecoming," after a single season. The broadcaster cited Ross's own admission of an inability to genuinely connect with or discover any spectral inhabitants as the primary reason for the show's premature demise. The series, which debuted in 2024, saw Ross revisit his East London roots to explore local ghost stories and alleged paranormal activity. Ross, 65, himself stated that he "couldn't find any ghosts" and was unwilling to "fake being scared," a sentiment echoed across several reports concerning the show's cancellation.
Lack of Spectres Seals Fate
"Haunted Homecoming," a show intended to delve into the spooky secrets of Ross's childhood stomping grounds, has concluded its run. Despite featuring locations such as an East End poor school, a coaching inn, Epping Forest, and a nearby hotel, the series failed to produce the kind of definitive paranormal encounters that might have warranted a second season. Ross’s personal skepticism, coupled with his refusal to fabricate fear or evidence, appears to have been a decisive factor. Reports indicate he found the pretence "really wearing" and it left him feeling "increasingly uncomfortable."

Ross, known for his role on "The Masked Singer" and his former talk show, has also recently appeared on Channel 4's "Handcuffed: Last Pair Standing" and the BBC's "The Celebrity Traitors." His ventures into the paranormal, however, seem to have run their course.
Background on the Series
The two-part series, which aired on Discovery+ and was also seen on Really, was conceptualized around a chilling personal experience from Ross's youth involving a paranormal event in his parents' cellar. He was accompanied on these investigations by psychic medium Ian Lawman and paranormal investigator Dr. Kate Cherrell. The show premiered in December 2024. While some sources initially suggested the series was "in production and expected to return," current reports confirm its axing after the initial season.
