Cambridge secured their fourth consecutive victory in the men's Boat Race on Saturday, overcoming challenging weather conditions and a determined Oxford crew. This triumph was part of a broader 'clean sweep' for Cambridge across various race categories, marking a significant achievement for the club.

The 171st men's Boat Race saw Cambridge's composure tested by what was described as 'brutal' weather, yet they managed to extend their head-to-head advantage over Oxford to 89-81. Despite Oxford initially holding Cambridge close, with a lead of less than four seconds at the Mile Post, Cambridge asserted dominance as the race progressed. They ultimately crossed the finish line with a margin of just over 11 seconds. One Cambridge participant noted that they "handled it well enough to get our bow well enough ahead at the end," acknowledging the uncertainty of how the margin might have differed under calmer conditions.

Earlier events on the Thames included the women's race, where Oxford secured their first win in a decade. This particular race experienced a dramatic restart following an aggressive maneuver that led to a clash of oars, with Oxford narrowly avoiding disqualification.

The overall event saw Cambridge achieve a clean sweep, encompassing victories in the men's and women's races, as well as reserve and lightweight competitions. The men's race, though delayed due to debris in the water, concluded with Cambridge clocking in at 16:56, a time ranked as the seventh-fastest in the race's history. Reports indicate Cambridge built a lead of around two seconds by Hammersmith Bridge, extending it to approximately 17 seconds by the finish.

This marks Cambridge's sixth win in the last seven men's Boat Races and their third consecutive 'double' victory across all events. The races took place on the traditional 6.8-kilometre Championship Course.
