The occurrences span various districts, from the northeast to the northwest and southeast, indicating a persistent issue of gun-related violence within the city.
In one incident on August 8, 2025, a targeted shooting in northeast Calgary left two men in critical condition, with suspects still at large. This follows an earlier event on April 29, 2023, also in northeast Calgary, where a shooting resulted in one fatality and two individuals sustaining life-threatening injuries. Police at the time believed this to be a targeted attack.
A separate incident on August 29, 2025, in northwest Calgary necessitated a 'shelter in place' order for residents. This event concluded with a suspect found dead, prompting an investigation by the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT). The police described the situation as "very dangerous."
