Hakim to Cease Collaborations Amidst Reports of Crew Undervaluation
Aalim Hakim, a prominent figure in celebrity hairstyling, has declared a firm stance against working with actors whose "managers" show disrespect towards hairdressers, makeup artists, and other crew members. This announcement, disseminated via a pointed social media note, signifies a direct challenge to perceived hierarchies within the entertainment industry. Hakim stressed that the individuals contributing to an actor's polished public image are far from being mere "staff," highlighting the silent dedication of creative professionals.
Hakim's declaration appears to stem from an observation that the significant financial success of an actor's projects can lead to inflated fee demands from their entourage, often described as an "unethical price." This sentiment was previously voiced by Hakim in October 2025, where he questioned why an actor's entourage would triple their fees following a Rs 500 crore box-office hit, implying a disconnect between the entourage's contribution and the claimed success. He asserted that his own fees, consistently set at a minimum of Rs 1 lakh per haircut, remain unchanged regardless of an actor's commercial standing or the success of their films.

The Unseen Effort Behind the Glamour
The hairstylist underscored the intensive nature of creative work in entertainment, stating, "Behind every public appearance, every red carpet moment, every film look, every photoshoot, every close-up… there are creative people silently giving their heart, their time, their talent, and their energy to make someone shine." Hakim pointed to the personal sacrifices made by crew members, suggesting their contributions are often overlooked. He also posited that such disrespect can subtly undermine an actor's public perception, even if the actor remains unaware.
A History of Calculated Fees and Humble Beginnings
Hakim's career, which began at the age of 16, has seen a significant rise. He once transformed his balcony into a makeshift salon, practicing on friends. Following his father's death, when his financial situation was dire, he continued his craft. His professional journey has involved styling prominent figures, including Ranbir Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, MS Dhoni, and members of the Ambani family.

His established fee structure, reported as a minimum of Rs 1 lakh per haircut since at least April 2024, has been a point of discussion. This figure reportedly applies to both celebrity clients and ordinary individuals, a practice Hakim has defended against claims of fee-hiking due to an actor's box-office success. Hakim's brand, Hakim's Aalim, has been operating for over three decades, aiming to blend artistic innovation with personal confidence.
Hakim's career has also seen him navigate challenging industry dynamics, including instances where his increased fees led to clients departing. He has been a consistent presence in celebrity styling, working with individuals like Salman Khan, Fardeen Khan, and Ajay Devgn for extended periods.
